Ana Isabel Castañeda practises in the Litigation, Arbitration and Corporate departments at Mirlo Legal.

A practising lawyer in Venezuela and a law graduate in Spain, she has an international professional background developed at multidisciplinary firms in Spain, Peru and Venezuela. Throughout her career she has advised and represented private companies and public entities on corporate, regulatory, administrative and public procurement law, as well as civil and commercial litigation. She previously worked advising and representing banking and insurance sector entities in Venezuela, participating in credit recovery proceedings, enforcement actions and litigation related to financial transactions.

Her experience includes the preparation of litigation strategies, the management of civil and commercial disputes, participation in arbitral proceedings — particularly in the context of public procurement in Peru — and advice on corporate and regulatory matters.

  • Guest lecturer on the Arbitration Specialisation Programme at the Instituto de Desarrollo Económico (IDE) of ESAN (Peru), teaching Arbitration Ethics.

    • Leading industrial group in Latin America in the manufacture of cleaning and personal care products. Advice on complex regulatory and administrative matters, including defence in penalty proceedings before tax and customs authorities, proceedings before the Superintendencia del Mercado de Valores for the redemption of investment shares, and regulatory authorisations for industrial operations before the Peruvian health authority.

    • Pharmaceutical companies with operations in Peru. Advice on public procurement proceedings before the Tribunal de Contrataciones del Estado, including challenges to public tender awards and defence in penalty proceedings.

    • Multinational tobacco company with international operations. Participation in regulatory and customs actions related to the tariff classification of products in international trade.

    • Franchised company in the textile sector representing European brands. Negotiation and structuring of a franchise agreement and improvement of economic and commercial exploitation terms in the local market.

    • Financial and insurance entities. Judicial representation and credit recovery through civil and commercial enforcement proceedings.
