Presentation of the conclusions of the Sports and Entertainment Working Group during the IV Meeting of the CIIAM Working Groups.
Alfonso Carrillo took part as a speaker at the IV Meeting of the Working Groups of the International and Ibero-American Arbitration Centre of Madrid (CIIAM), held in Madrid and attended by arbitration practitioners, companies and law firms from several countries.
During the session of the Sports and Entertainment Working Group, the main conclusions of the report "Commercial Arbitration in the Sports Sector" were presented, drafted by members of the group over the past several months. The report analyses the economic development of the sports industry, the main types of contracts in the sector, and the opportunities for the growth of commercial arbitration in areas such as audiovisual rights, sponsorships, event organisation, corporate transactions and the financing of sports entities.
The report highlights the sustained growth of sport as a global industry and the increase in international commercial relationships linked to the sector, factors which encourage greater use of specialised dispute resolution mechanisms. It also examines the positioning of the leading international arbitration institutions and the opportunities for the development of commercial arbitration in the sports field.
Participation in this project is part of MIRLO's commitment to the study and development of international arbitration, as well as to the analysis of the legal challenges raised by an increasingly globalised and sophisticated sports industry.
